Contacts and relationships

Record parents, family, approved pickups, and emergency contacts for each child.

Each child has contacts — the people in their life. You'll find them on the child's Family tab, and you can add them while adding a child or at any time afterwards.

Contact types

A contact can be one or more of:

  • Parent — a mother, father, or legal guardian.
  • Family — a grandparent, sibling, aunt or uncle, and so on.
  • Approved pickup — someone outside the family who is approved to collect the child.
  • Emergency contact — someone to call in an emergency.

A single person can hold more than one type — for example, a parent who is also an emergency contact.

Who can view and who can collect

Each contact link has two independent settings:

  • Can view — whether this person can see updates about the child (once they have a login).
  • Can pick up — whether this person is authorised to collect the child.

These are separate on purpose: someone might be allowed to collect a child without following their daily updates, or vice versa. One contact is also marked as the primary contact the first person to call.

Adding a contact

  1. Open the child's profile and go to the Family tab.
  2. Choose Add contact.
  3. Enter their name, an optional relation label, and at least an email or a phone number.
  4. Choose the type(s) and whether to invite them now.

Removing a contact

Contacts are archived rather than deleted, so a child's history stays intact. You can always re-add someone later.

To give a contact a login so they can follow the child, see Inviting parents and family.
